Gadget Gang HK is a tech YouTube channel dedicated to testing new products, sharing insights, comparing options, and introducing the latest tech innovations. The channel primarily focuses on technology products and topics while aiming to highlight its audience's latest trends.
The current logo fails to establish a strong brand identity and does not effectively stand out. This issue is compounded by the need for a new business card for client meetings. Consistent feedback has highlighted the necessity for a comprehensive brand redesign. As a result, the client is seeking an update that includes:
- A redesigned logo to enhance brand recognition and visual impact.
- A cohesive colour scheme that aligns with the updated brand identity.
- A new YouTube channel banner to create a more engaging and professional online presence.
- Intro and outro animations that reflect the refreshed brand and capture the audience's attention.
The design began with creating a mind map to organise all the essential information from the client. It aimed to highlight the key aspects the design needed to focus on, while staying true to the original concept. This approach also made it easier to identify how to develop the design from all perspectives.
Typographic:
The chosen typeface for this design is Josefin Sans, which is selected for its modern, geometric aesthetic with rounded elements. This style mirrors the friendly and approachable qualities of the Google logo, particularly in its curved shapes for letters like "c" and "e." Josefin Sans combines clean lines with a subtle roundness to achieve a contemporary look.
Colour palette:
The colour palette features a pink gradient transitioning to blue, with each colour clearly defined rather than blended. This approach highlights the individuality of each colour, contributing to a professional and distinct brand image. Using white for the logo ensures it stands out and highlights the brand effectively. The palette evokes a tech-oriented vibe, suggesting calmness, trust, and a forward-thinking approach.
Other elements:
Spiral layer: The geometric vertex shape spirals around a central point. Each spiral layer creates a sense of depth and dimension, with the shapes overlapping slightly to give an overlay effect. The whole composition has a sleek, modern aesthetic that feels like it's reaching toward the future.
The logo concept featuring a vortex-like icon to convey the power and dynamism of the logo. The geometric shape of this logo symbolises energy, power, and forward momentum, representing a future of limitless potential. The mark on top emphasises the brand's commitment to innovation and its role in helping people explore new technological products.
Ultimately, I integrated the new design elements and crafted distinct illustrations specifically for an animated sequence that serves as the introduction for their YouTube video. This approach successfully captures and conveys their brand identity and content in a compelling manner.
This particular project in my portfolio represents my first venture into 2D animation. It involved creating an animated sequence using After Effects, a software tool with which I was previously unfamiliar. Undertaking this project necessitated acquiring proficiency in After Effects, showcasing my ability to adapt and learn new software for creative purposes.
