Neon Road Events is an event planning and management company specialising in crafting personalised event experiences tailored to each client's vision. Additionally, it offers a specialised sub-brand, PIP TALK, focused on talk events, serving as a platform for monthly events to foster connections and meaningful dialogue among attendees.
The company aim to establish a dedicated website for its sub-brand, "PIP TALK." This initiative seeks to broaden audience reach, providing a platform for expanding their community and facilitating ticket purchases.
When I joined the team, I realized that they had already established an essential website. From there, I began by reviewing the old website to understand what needed to be added or improved upon. I proactively developed wireframes. These wireframes served as a tool to guide the entire team through the user flow. Given that we were a small team and I was the sole UI/UX designer tasked with making changes to the website, this approach was essential. Our focus during discussions revolved around achieving our goals and enhancing user interaction on the website. The discussions were intense but incredibly beneficial in refining our strategies.
Subsequently, I constructed the entire design based on several user stories that we had discussed within the team.
1. Vivian is an office worker who works from 9 to 5, Monday to Friday. Outside of her job, she seeks to explore various fields of knowledge and connect with different people to add excitement and fulfillment to her routine life.
2. Jessica is deeply passionate about music and its transformative power in her life. She is eager to share her personal journey over the past few years, illustrating how music has influenced and shaped her experiences. Her goal is to inspire and connect with others who may be facing similar challenges or seeking solace through music. By sharing her story, Jessica hopes to offer support and guidance to those navigating difficulties, or simply provide a comforting reminder that they are not alone in their struggles.
3. Jeff, a financial expert, assists individuals in making informed investment decisions and navigating various financial challenges. While he already has clients who seek his expertise, Jeff recognizes that many others could benefit from his services. He aims to expand his client base while also emphasizing the importance of seeking professional guidance in financial matters. Jeff's goal is to educate individuals about the value of working with an expert like himself, who can provide tailored advice and strategies to optimize their financial decisions. Additionally, he is committed to empowering clients to make informed choices, whether they choose to seek guidance from him or implement his recommendations independently.
Based on the user stories and user flow, we have developed several layouts for the website, with a focus on simplicity in design. Our approach involves creating three distinct user perspectives, each tailored to meet the needs outlined in the user stories. These perspectives will ensure that visitors to the website can easily navigate and find relevant information based on their specific requirements and interests.
Throughout the project, I engaged in various design tasks, including editing shorts, adding subtitles, and crafting the intro animation, in addition to contributing to the main project. This experience granted me valuable insights into the significance of different design elements, particularly emphasizing the importance of color and font selection. It also underscored the critical role of accessibility considerations, especially when adding subtitles and developing the intro animation.
Due to the project's three-month timeline, we had to streamline the design process. While we extensively tested within the team to ensure effectiveness, the limited timeframe meant that the website could only realize the core concept without undergoing complete refinement.
Personally, using WIX to develop the website posed challenges due to its limitations. As a result, researching and finding workarounds for desired interfaces and functionalities took up a significant amount of time.
In the end, the outcome was highly satisfactory, marked by a notable increase in sales. We were pleased with the completion of all website sections, but what truly delighted us was witnessing users seamlessly purchasing tickets directly from the site. Additionally, it was rewarding to see other users visiting our website to fulfil their requests or interests.
